The Marseille Velodrome Stadium, constructed in 1938 and partially refurbished in 1998, shall be totally modernized to conform to international regulations with its eyes set on the 2016 European Football Championship. This reconfiguration will suppose an increase of 7,000 in its seating capacity and shall therefore be able to rival any stadium in any other large European city.

The central element of the renewal project is a new three dimensional steel roof, weighing some 5,500 tonnes which shall cover the grandstands and shall offer a highly modern and innovative image to the stadium.

The joint venture between SEEAC and FHECOR - Ingenieros Consultores has fulfilled the execution project for the entire steel structure
