FHECOR Ingenieros Consultores has been appointed as part of the design team for Merseylink who are the preferred bidders for the Mersey Gateway Crossing in northern England. The project encompasses the design of a new crossing of the Mersey River upstream of the existing Silver Jubilee Bridge for Halton Borough Council, the project client. XXX is proud to be working with Merseylink, who have united the skills of highly experienced partners, all committed to delivering a Project of the highest quality.
The key partners are:
Merseylink: Macquarie Capital Group Limited, Bilfinger Project Investments Europe Limited, FCC Construcción S.A.
Construction: Samsung C&T Corporation, FCC Construcción S.A, Kier Infrastructure and Overseas Limited.
Design: Flint & Neill, URS, Eptisa,FHECOR and Dissing + Weitling
The bridge is a triple tower concrete cable stayed bridge with 1000 m of suspended deck and extensive approach viaducts providing improved public transport links across the river and relief to the congested Silver Jubilee Bridge. The project will deliver transport and environmental benefits by reducing travel times across the river and by keeping traffic free-flowing. Cycling and walking routes will become more user-friendly. It will also improve traffic safety and reduce congestion in Halton and the North West.
The construction period for the project will be kept as short as possible as Merseylink are committed to minimising the impact on local communities and stakeholders. To achieve this the design and construction team members are focusing their efforts on early delivery of a number of key components as the detailed design is developed.
